Hey guys, I wanted to share my thoughts on the upcoming NBA season and some futures bets that caught my eye. With so many teams vying for awards and championships, it can be tough to know where to start.
First up, I'm looking at the NBA Champion futures. Now, Oklahoma City is definitely a team to watch after their title run last year, but they're priced pretty short everywhere. For me, that's a red flag. Denver Nuggets are my pick here, and I think they have a solid chance of making it to the Finals. Nikola Jokić is still one of the most reliable playoff engines in the league, and the Nuggets' depth looks like it's only going to get better.
Next up, we've got the NBA Cup Champion futures. This one's a bit more interesting because it feels like a March Madness-like environment - teams are going to be flying around, trying to make deep runs. Cleveland is my pick here, and I think they've got a good shot at taking home the title. Donovan Mitchell can win two games by himself, Evan Mobley gives you scheme-agnostic defense, and the rotation is switchable enough to survive unfamiliar opponents on short prep.
Now, let's talk MVP. Giannis Antetokounmpo is my pick here, and I think he's got a good chance of taking home the award. He's been one of the most dominant players in the league for years, and his team is looking like it's going to be pretty good this year.
Defensive Player of the Year is another bet that caught my eye. Victor Wembanyama is my pick here, and I think he's got a good shot at taking home the award. He led the NBA in blocks as a rookie on a messy Spurs team, and film shows deterrence - late closes on shooters, verticality at the rim, and enough lateral range to erase mistakes.
Rookie of the Year is always a fun bet, but I'm going to go with Ace Bailey here. Why? Role plus tape. He's projected to step into immediate wing minutes with freedom to score in space, and he offers the kind of counting-stat mix (points + rebounds + stocks) that resonates with ROY voters even if the efficiency wobbles early.
Finally, we've got the NBA regular season scoring leader futures. Jaylen Brown is my pick here, and I think he's got a good shot at taking home the award. He's a proven 25–27 PPG scorer who can spike into the 40s on any given night, and his shot diet - transition bursts, bully drives, and a steady stream of pull-up mid-range - translates to reliable volume rather than streaky, all-threes dependency.
Overall, I think these are some solid futures bets that have a good chance of paying off. Of course, there's always variance in sports betting, but I think these teams have the talent and depth to make a deep run in the playoffs.
