Hey guys, I wanted to share some thoughts on the NBA futures for points, rebounds, and assists leaders. As we all know, these markets tend to be pretty chalky, with the favorites dominating.
However, I've been digging deeper and found some longer-shot plays that could pay off big time. One player who caught my eye is Jaylen Brown. He's currently listed at +6000 on DraftKings to lead the league in points per game. Now, I know what you're thinking - isn't this a pretty long shot? And yes, it is. But here's the thing: Brown was already averaging a career-high 26.6 points per game last season as the Celtics' second option, and now he'll be carrying a much larger burden with Jayson Tatum out for the season.
The Celtics won't be blowing teams out every night, so they can't dial back Brown's workload. If they want to make a serious run at the NBA playoffs, Brown will need to carry a much larger burden during the regular season than he has in the past. At +6000, it's definitely worth considering.
Another player I like is Jalen Duren, who's listed at +6000 on DraftKings to lead the league in rebounds per game. What makes Duren so appealing is his room for growth - many of the top centers in the league are already playing near their ceiling in terms of minutes per game. Duren isn't there yet, and I think he has a high upside.
Finally, I'm looking at Josh Giddey, who's listed at +8000 on DraftKings to lead the league in assists per game. At first glance, this might seem like way too long of a shot, but hear me out. Giddey quietly showed last season that he can compete in this category, and with Zach LaVine traded away, his role became far more defined. He's now running Billy Donovan's offense from Day 1, and if he keeps his minutes in the mid-30s, it's not unrealistic for him to average 10+ assists per game.
These are just a few of my picks, but I think they offer some strong value at their respective prices. Let me know what you guys think!
